Goodwin & Bigelow account book, 1759-1760.

Daniel Goodwin and stepson John Bigelow operated their Simsbury, Connecticut, store for 13 months, beginning in February 1759. A parent store was located in Hartford, Connecticut, and it continued operating after the closing of the Simsbury branch. Patrons came mainly from Simsbury, Windsor, and Suffield, with others coming from Westfield, Massachusetts and "the wedge of land" (currently North Granby, CT). Typical transactions included the sale of sundries, nails, shoe buckles, sugar, and clothing.
